Describe the gym’s atmosphere and clientele.
“This is not a gym where
beautiful bodies are checking
themselves out in the mirror.
It's family-oriented, and we
have a lot of seniors.”
“We have a very comfortable,
friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Our
trainers and staff are very personable.
Our mantra is ‘move more,
eat right and celebrate life.’”
“Very family-oriented. Our
clients aren’t looking for a
meatmarket gym.We
incorporate the family into
all of the programs
throughout our facility.”
What practical advice do you give clients who struggle to squeeze exercise into their busy lives?
“You don’t have to spend
a long period of time.Take
advantage of 15-minute
windows. Don’t make
stringent goals early on. Just
come in and get moving.”
“Put yourself first. It’s critical in
order to be a good spouse, keep
up with kids and be a good
employee. Put it on your calendar
and just schedule it in. A 30-minute
workout can make a huge difference.
It’s a big stress reliever.”
“I think of working out like
brushing my teeth. Schedule
it the same time every day so
it becomes a regular habit.
Commit yourself to a class
where you feel obligated
to attend.”
Tell about the best success story you’ve ever witnessed.
“Two young members
ran the Columbus
Marathon this year.”
“One of our clients just turned
70.We helped her get fit and
strong so she could spend her
70th birthday cruising the
Mediterranean. She just loves
the workout because it
keeps her strong.”
“One client had some health
issues and hadn’t exercised
before coming to the Y’s fitness
evaluation day. She found out
her body fat and flexibility
scores. She’s lost 30 pounds and
dropped her blood pressure.”
